Relationship Cookies In Before Taking Cookies Out

In our daily endeavors, do we put relationship cookies in the jar before expecting to take cookies out? In other words, what do we give before taking? Do we think in terms of finance to realize, we must be able and willing to make an investment before we can receive the dividends?

This is much more than the Quid Pro Quo of, “I’ll do something nice for you, so you’ll do something nice for me.” What I’m talkin’ about is, “I’ll give my best to each encounter with another person, expecting nothing in return.”

Karma is 100% accurate in delivering to each of us exactly what we’ve earned.

Those who contribute little to society and never put a cookie in the Universal jar will receive little in return. Those who go all in to give their best and dump cookies in the laps of everyone will receive abundant rewards.

Protect Your Heart Above All Else for Growth

“Above all else, protect your heart,” encourages an old Proverb.

How important is that singular phrase? Simply: a matter of life and death.

Do we ever pause to THINK? “No one cares as much about my life as I do.”

Generally, the answer is, “No.” Because, we are beset with the societal propaganda encouraging a Rich and Famous lifestyle. In other words, the focus is on obtaining individual worth from the lives of others.

There’s a name for that: Narcissism.

Jump for Jump

Early in the bull riding Crusade of my son, Ryan, he made the comment, “Dad, it’s really pretty simple. You just stay in the middle of ’em and ride ’em jump for jump.”

At the time, we were sitting in a Truck Stop across the Interstate from the Horse Palace, where Ryan was waiting for his turn to ride. I was sipping on my coffee and Ryan was stirring his hot chocolate.

The cafe was noisy from the farmer and trucker banter, and distractions were constant because of the shenanigans from the waitresses and busboys. I didn’t hear exactly what Ryan had said. So, I asked him to repeat it.

“Dad, you stay in the middle of ’em and ride ’em jump for jump.”

Yep, from the mouths of babes, or in this case a high school student at the time, comes the secret to life.

Stay in the middle and ride them jump for jump.

Communication

Recently, I was reminded of the importance of Communication and Respect by a dance instructor. “As a leader, you must set the tone by your posture and frame. Your partner must feel safe in your presence.”

In other words, I must come to the dance floor sure of who I am — and willing to extend an invitation to someone sure of who she is. Otherwise, a wreck is guaranteed — toes will be stepped upon and feelings will be hurt.

Reverse ABC’s

Whatever the mind can Conceive and Believe, it can Achieve.

Most of us are familiar with one of the great speeches of all time, “I have a dream…” by Martin Luther King. As I listened to the speech, I was reminded of another period of time in our great country, the United States of America.

For eight years, January 20, 2009 – January 20, 2017, we listened to the oratory of another fellow promise great things. Heck, he even had the masses mesmerized by his magnificent dreams.

Stuttering Roadrunner

Why does a stuttering roadrunner say, “BBeep, BBeep!”?

Because — they are so dang excited about new business opportunities.

They know “BBeep” is the short version of, “Better Business evolving everyday Plan.” Or, we can shorten that to, simply, “Better Business Plan.”

Performance Realms

In an ordered Universe, these four — in this order — would be the performance realms: Goodness, Thought, Action, and Feelings.

Goodness would fuel our Thoughts, which motivate us to Action, resulting in warm fuzzy Feelings.

However, we live in a time with slogans similar to, “If it feels good, do it.
