The Hero’s Journey

The Hero's Journey ~ Comfort or Learning

The most dangerous place in the world is Comfortable. To receive the rewards waiting for each of us, we must embark on The Hero’s Journey.

This journey is not for the faint of heart. In fact, you might not currently feel like much of a hero. Yet guaranteed, you will emerge from the wilderness a changed and better individual.

Before we begin, let’s consider WHY this is so important.

Growing or Shrinking

From the moment of birth, we begin dying. The natural condition is one of decay. In other words, we are either: Soaring or plummeting, Roaring or sulking; Paddling or floating.

Although it’s not my right or responsibility to speak for you — I know for a fact and will share with the world, that I prefer to: Feel the wind beneath my wings, Proclaim to the world my intent, and Have my oars in the water.

In other words, we are either putting force into action for propulsion forward — or we are coasting to a complete STOP, which is then quickly followed by a slide backward. Until… we put force into action, again.

Forces and Motion

A fellow by the name of Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727) invested the time to formulate a theorem and then by scientific method capture the essence of the truth about our Life choices.

1.) Things that are still, stay still — and things that are moving, keep moving with a steady speed unless a force of some kind pushes or pulls on them.

2.) When a force acts (pushes or pulls) on an object, it changes the object’s speed or direction (in other words, makes it accelerate). The bigger the force, the more the object accelerates.

3.) When a force acts on an object, there’s an equal force (called a reaction) acting in the opposite direction. This law is sometimes written “action and reaction are equal and opposite”.

Little and Big Journeys

If we’re fully alive and squeezing the essence from each moment, every day is an Adventure. We are exerting force upon those in our sphere of influence — and forces are affecting our thoughts, words, and actions.

Yet, WE (each of us) have the freewill of Choice. We choose who to influence — and with appropriate Boundaries, the influences and propaganda of the world have their limits of effect upon our psyches.

What I want to explore with YOU is beyond the little everyday adventures. There are big Journeys waiting for you and me. Some we may have already experienced. Yet, I want us to fully understand The Hero’s Journey.

Master of Both Worlds

A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man.

Joseph Campbell

Freedom to pass back and forth across the world division, from the perspective of the apparitions of time to that of the causal deep and back—not contaminating the principles of the one with those of the other, yet permitting the mind to know the one by virtue of the other—is the talent of the Master.

The Cosmic Dancer, declares Nietzsche, does not rest heavily in a single spot, but gaily, lightly, turns and leaps from one position to another. It is possible to speak from only one point at a time, but that does not invalidate the insights of the rest.

The individual, through prolonged psychological disciplines, gives up completely all attachment to his personal limitations, idiosyncrasies, hopes and fears, no longer resists the self-annihilation that is prerequisite to rebirth in the realization of truth, and so becomes ripe, at last, for the great at-one-ment.

His personal ambitions being totally dissolved, he no longer tries to live but willingly relaxes to whatever may come to pass in him; he becomes, that is to say, an anonymity.”

Freedom to Live

Mastery leads to freedom from the fear of death, which in turn is the freedom to live. This is sometimes referred to as living in the moment, neither anticipating the future nor regretting the past.

The hero is the champion of things becoming, not of things become, because he is. “Before Abraham was, I AM.” He does not mistake apparent changelessness in time for the permanence of Being, nor is he fearful of the next moment (or of the ‘other thing’), as destroying the permanent with its change.

Nothing retains its own form; but Nature, the greater renewer, ever makes up forms from forms. Be sure that nothing perishes in the whole universe; it does but vary and renew its form. Thus, the next moment is permitted to come to pass.

The Choice

Although impossible to capture into words the feeling of my own version of The Hero’s Journey (aka trip through the desert), I encourage YOU to move from that dangerous place known as Comfortable and be willing to accept the challenge of The Hero’s Journey.

You will return with treasure gathered from your experience that will benefit friends and Family. And, you will be the Master of both worlds — understanding higher dimensions of the physical and spiritual realms.

You will have harnessed the forces which are the hidden power behind everything that happens in our world — and beyond. As a result, you will be able to do the “impossible” things no one has ever done before.

Anyone who goes further or faster for longer must master forces of one kind or another.

Explain That Stuff

The only way to get there from here is to take The Hero’s Journey!
