How do you define Success?
The definition is unique for each of us.
For some, success is simply the accumulation of money. Others view success as building something special for themselves and their Family. A select few believe Success is creating and leaving a Legacy.
Regardless of your definition, Success does not just magically waltz into our lives. And, about the time we think we have achieved IT and arrived at our ultimate destination, we become enlightened to how small our original vision really was. The more we know and do, the smaller our stature.
We become smaller in perspective to the larger Universe. As we begin our Crusade, our egos are as large as our Plans. Yet, you’ve heard the expression: If you want to hear God laugh, boldly declare your Plan.
Everything of value is created with a plan and from a blueprint. In essence, we build IT on paper, first. There’s nothing wrong with having a Plan. What holds us back from greatness is how puny our plans are — at the beginning.
If you’ve ever drawn the plan for anything (birdhouse, patio, house, or even a book) you know how ugly those first drafts are. The temptation is strong to either: 1.) Quit, or 2.) Launch into the endeavor.
Either of those choices are uglier than the initial drafts of our Blueprint. So, we push forward… until, almost by magic, the image in our mind’s eye materializes onto the plan drawing as an image of our new creation.
Now, that we know what we’re going to build and have a blueprint of the finished product, what’s the secret to the creation — of Success?
Technology ~ In every age and period of history, the most successful were on the leading edge of the technology for that Time.
Accounting ~ In order to manage, there must be a way to measure. Time is the most precious of resources, Money is a close second.
People ~ In order to enjoy Success, we must partner with others — in thought, action, and eventually celebration.
If success has eluded YOU to this present moment — after substantial investment in Time and Money — be of good cheer. And, TAP Into Success.
Business Plans of yesterday — and into the present moment — have relied on the antiquated notion of beginning with: Sales to Customers.
“Fine,” I say. And, then, I go on to ask the question just begging an answer, “How many Sales to how many Customers?”
Guess what?! The professors of the Universities and professionals of the Ivory Towers have no idea. They are clueless. Yet, they want YOU to deliver on a Business Plan they can’t explain.
Achieve at the Speed of Belief.
Here again the Smoke and Mirrors crowd wants you to believe accounting can only be done by the professionals. They were wrong, once. Do you think, maybe, they’re wrong, again? Absolutely!
Accounting is nothing more than 4th Grade math. You’ll use a small portion of Junior High math, to finish drafting your Better Business Plan.
If you’re open to a little Coaching (what is known as the Three-E Formula: Enlighten, Empower, and Encourage) and bring to bear the Passion YOU have for Success, you’ll be able to understand a Balance Sheet and all KPIs.
Those who fail to plan, plan to fail.
Am I passionate about your well-being and eventual Success? You bet! As much as this is serious business (we’re talking about the rest of your life), we will have FUN — achieving the definition of Success YOU have chosen.
Business is ALL about the people. “People over process,” I say. And, the way to remember this borderline magical concept is to think: POP.
The greatest gift is a chosen, purposeful effort — often done in the face of fear — to nurture our own growth and the growth of others. Brick-by-brick and Step-by-step is how we build a legacy and reach our destination.
We learn by doing; The fun is in the doing. Let’s have fun learning.
I can imagine what you’re thinking, “I’ve made mistakes. The hand of Fate has had its way with me. I’m too old…” STOP it! When you’re looking for excuses, any one will do.
However, I know you’ve heard the expression: Better late than never.
Yes, it’s impossible to go back for a do-over, redo, reset, or any other form of pity-party silliness. We cannot rewrite the beginning of our lives. BUT — at any moment, we CAN choose the ending.
I encourage you to TAP into the Success patiently waiting for YOU. 🙂
The more we learn, the more we know;
The more we know, the more we sow;
The more we sow, the more we grow.
